How to Succeed in AP
AP World History isn't your normal sophomore class. It's much harder, which makes sense, considering this is basically college curriculum. I mean, how awesome is it that you have the potential to get college credit in high school?? Crazy, right? But before you can pass the AP exam and get college credit, you have to know how to be successful in the class. One thing about this class, is you'll have a lot of homework. However, Mr. Brock has a good system of dealing with it. Basically, you start with 15 homework points, or 150% in your homework grade. That way, you have a 5 point buffer, before you actually start doing bad on your grade. The homework is never too much to handle, so I was able to retain my 15 points over the course of this class, and you can do well too! Just make it a priority to do your work, whenever you have free time. The same goes for essays. Essays can be painful if you try to do one last minute. You can be successful by using the Guatemala paper (Mr. Brock will tell you plenty about how the Guatemala paper is as holy as any bible), and by dedicating time, with no distractions (especially not cell phones), just to your essay. If you do that, even a DBQ with ten documents shouldn't take longer than an hour, or an hour and a half to complete!
